Invitation 10MILA weekend, 3-5 May 2013

On behalf of the association Tiomilakavlen, the organising clubs welcome competitors, leaders, officials and spectators to 10MILA 2013 in Stockholm. The competitions will take place on 3-5 May at the Life Guards’ military training ground in Upplands Bro municipality, approximately 30 km north-west of Stockholm.

This will be the third time that 10MILA has been held at the Life Guards’ training ground. The first time was in 1981, when the weather played a prominent role. And then in 2005 we all remember the thrilling scenes as competitors reached the home straight. In 2013, 10MILA takes another leap forward in its development.

The themes for 10MILA 2013 are:

TIGHT – NEW – COOL

A competition for all under elite conditions

TIGHT – Close to Stockholm, close to Finland and an arena with contact between spectators and competitors.
NEW – Two completely new competitions, Haglöfs’ Night Trail Run and 10MILA-korten, create a 10MILA weekend with something for everyone.
COOL – The feeling we hope everyone will share.

A COMPETITION FOR ALL UNDER ELITE CONDITIONS

A focus also on amateur teams, with double speaker teams, fluid and snack stations and GPS tracking.

ASSEMBLY AREA/ARENA

The arena is at Gällöfsta Herrgård, Upplands-Bro municipality.
Directions from E18 between Stockholm and Enköping, exit 150, Brunna. (N 59° 29.769’ E 17° 44.658’)

Haglöfs’ Night Trail Run

Haglöfs’ Night Trail Run is a new, unique cross-country run in Sweden aimed at people who like running and are keen to experience the excitement of running in the forest in dark conditions – the very spirit and trademark of 10MILA.

  • organised between the Women’s and 10MILA relays on Saturday 4 May.
  • takes place in the dark using a head torch. It is a string course on trackless terrain through forest and across fields, along small and wide paths, as well as some gravel roads.
  • Choose whether you want to run 10 or 5 km. Each course has a women’s and a men’s class.
  • Start, circuit and finish at the 10MILA arena, with big screen TV, sales of sports goods, canteen, showers and sauna.

The idea behind this competition is to attract a new target group to 10MILA. Pass on information about the Night Trail Run to friends and acquaintances who are interested in running. It will be an exciting experience.

Read more and register at the NTR web site – Haglöfs Night Trail Run (swedish only site).
